"By The River"
 
Such a characteristic pose for the kingfisher! I usually see them zooming along, just above the river at high speed, or catch a glimpse of one like this - resting on a branch, looking into the water. It always feels like a moment of grace to glimpse a kingfisher in its native habitat like this.
 
In this painting I wanted to capture the serenity of this moment, the sense of a wild creature at ease in its natural habitat, the green of the river and the plantlife around so complementary to the kingfisher's startling colours.

This painting is framed: waxed and mounted on a wood panel, it sits within a solid wood white floating frame (see final image for framed piece). This piece is available to hang immediately.
