This painting brings together two elements that I love: teasel seedheads and the beautiful little songbird, the Goldfinch.
In this painting I wanted to capture the golden feel of the long last languorous days of summer when charms of goldfinches can be seen in scrubland, meadows and hedgerows feasting on thistle and teasel seeds.
Golden light emanates through this scene from the background. There is a delicate tracery of blue leaves in the background surrounding the strong stems of the teasel which stand out so boldly in the foreground. Almost hidden amongst them is a beautiful little jewel of a bird. The goldfinch watches looks at us as if pausing for a moment from his task of harvesting.
This long slender piece brings a harmonious feeling of light, nature and summer. The painting is full of soft golds, teals, and browns, with just a tiny hint of red on the finch's face.
It comes mounted on wood panel and framed in a white solid wood frame (Please note the images above do not sure the final frame. Please enquire for further images.)
