There is such power and majesty to an osprey in flight. Here, the bird is rising out of the water - spray everywhere, wings powerfully beating to gain altitude.
I always love seeing the ospreys reappear each year in the UK - a sign that the spring is truly gathering pace. In the Lake District and in Scotland, they are increasingly familiar sights as conservationists actively monitor and protect their nesting sights, and families enjoy being able to watch them on camera.
For me, ospreys feel elemental and phoenix-like. It still feels strange to see a huge bird of prey rise out of the water. They are like a bird of fire that effortlessly travels the air and water realms alike.
I hope this osprey painting captures something of their majesty in motion ...
