-
The occasion: Is there a special occasion? Is this for you or a loved one? Do you have a deadline?
-
The subject: Is there a particular bird or animal you want me to paint? Have you already seen a painting you like that I have done before? Do you have a clear idea of what you want your subject to be doing?
-
The colours and mood: Is there a particular room that this is going in? Are there colours you especially like? What kind of mood do you want - something light and uplifting, or mysterious and moody?
-
The size and shape: What size and shape do you want the painting to be? Square, vertical or horizontal rectange?
-
The budget: What is your budget? See below for guidelines to my pricing.

How Long For A Commission?
Commissions take between 2-5 weeks to complete depending on demand.

Framing is generally left to you so that you can select something that suits your style and budget; however, if you would like me to organise having your painting professionally framed and sent to you then please allow a further 4-6 weeks.

This means a time-frame of around 1 month unframed, and 2 months framed for the UK.

"I wanted a painting of a particular bird (a dipper) for a special occasion, however, Rachel did not have one available at the time. I therefore decided to commission one from her and am so glad that I did!
From start to finish of the process, Rachel could not have been more accommodating, from providing the initial sketches to select from (I wanted the bird in a particular pose), to the delivery of the final painting well within the agreed deadline.
And as for painting itself, I could not be more delighted, as it captures precisely the pose I was looking for!"

"We were inspired to ask Rachel to paint our dog Karma who sadly passed away in autumn after seeing her beautiful paintings on Facebook.
From start (asking us for three words that summed up her spirit ) to finish (opening the most exquisitely packed parcel) it was a wonderful experience and the painting is amazing - captures Karma so perfectly that it’s almost like she is back in the house with us. We will treasure it always. "

Guide Prices for Commission
The following will give you a general idea of prices. However, you will be given an accurate quote for your original painting once we have agreed your final preferences with me.

The guide prices below are for an unframed piece.
6x6" square £250
8 x 8" square £280
8 x 10" rectangle (horizontal or vertical) £300
12 x 12" square £430
12 x 16" rectangle (horizontal or vertical) £480

If you would like me to frame your commissioned piece, I use a special process that eliminates the need for a glass frame (thereby avoiding the glare and reflections that can happen with glass framing). This process, and the time and materials involved (wood panel and solid wood frame) adds around £100-200 to the painting, depending on its size. It creates a beautiful modern effect that lifts the finished painting to another level.
