Peregrine Falcon - Watercolour Painting
£330.00

‘Piercing Gaze’

Watercolour painting of Peregrine Falcon on 300gsm 100% cotton watercolour.

Size of painted area: 23 × 31cm (9×12”)

For over twenty years we heard the primal cry of the peregrine above our garden, every summer. It is a sound that brings me pure joy.

For some reason, despite perfect nesting sites in old quarries (and plenty of pigeons!), we have only seen them occasionally in the last few years. I miss their wild and haughty presence and am grateful that my art allows me to bring back their spirit to the page if not the sky.

N.B - this painting is currently on exhibition at the Brilliance of Birds exhibition, Rheged, Penrith, and can be reserved and purchased directly from Rheged.

Framed in solid wood St Ives frame.

Tawny Owl - Watercolour Painting

‘From Out of Dreams’

Watercolour painting of Tawny Owl on 300gsm 100% cotton watercolour.

24×20”

This is how I often see a tawny owl - appearing in my torchlight or headlights at night - a beautiful ghostly apparition that looms out of the darkness in front of me. For a moment this invisible bird becomes visible. The image seems to stay with me afterwards - an imprint in my mind.

This painting seeks to capture that moment - this beautiful creature appearing out of the mystery of the night.

Framed in white solid wood St Ives frame.

Osprey - Watercolour Painting
£570.00

’Osprey Rising’

Watercolour painting of Osprey on 300gsm 100% cotton watercolour.

10×20”

A fierce and capable hunter, ospreys are the fishermen of our inland lakes and rivers during the spring and summer months. They arrive in April amongst a flurry of excitement as locals look out for their first glimpses of this majestic bird of prey.

To see an osprey descend into the water to fish is a wonderful sight as they plummet through the water. They are able to carry their own weight in fish and have adapted to grasp and hold the fish in the most aerodynamic way when taking it back to the nest.

I am fortunate to live in an area of England where ospreys have returned after a long absence. This - and the painting, Osprey’s Descent - focus in on those fleeting moments when the bird is at one in two elements, water and air.

Tawny Owl - Watercolour Painting
from £605.00

‘Falling into Silence’

Watercolour painting of Tawny Owl on 300gsm 100% cotton watercolour.

Painted area: 61×51cm (18×14”)

Appearing from the deep blue of the evening sky, a tawny owl drops to the ground silently.

Exploring the valley where I live at dusk is a different experience and I have been fortunate to observe our local tawny owl - from a distance - several times this year. That utter softness and stealth! Seeing it resting in stillness, or flying silently, I feel it as an absence - a velvet blackness that seems to absorb all surrounding sound. A secret presence. It is as if we have to wake up a part of ourselves to be able to see and meet it.

Available unframed or framed in white solid wood frame.
