I am always touched by the sight of a bird quietly resting in its natural habitat - not having to be on high alert, not looking alarmed, simply abiding.
Lapwings are such birds of motion! Their very flight and their calls are full of activity and character. This painting captures a moment where all activity has temporarily ceased and there is a feeling of stillness. The shimmering of the lapwing’s iridescent colouring, its lovely rounded body and its elegant fine crest now become apparent.
